Add 4.5 GBs Free Space on Dropbox! [Tips]

Dropbox has launched a promotion for their new Beta edition, to increase storage space over 4.5 Gigabytes! Dropbox for a while has implemented the auto-import images into your folder, but apparently, not many dared to sacrifice space in favor of having the photos always available.

To encourage use of the automatic synchronization of photos, Dropbox is giving us 500 Megabytes free only installation of this beta version and synchronize images.

  • To add extra 500 MBs, just download the Beta version of the application and install.
  • For every 500 MBs of images and videos automatically uploaded to Dropbox, give us more than 500 MBs Bonus up to a maximum of 4.5 GB.

So, why wait? To upload your images! In Windows , you may have to activate the “Autoplay” images. This is done under Start Menu > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > AutoPlay in Windows 7.

As per official Dropbox forum post :

Another day another build. We’re trying to snipe all the most common bugs. Keep plugging in those cameras! During this beta period, we are also offering additional free space to test automatic uploading of photos and videos. For every 500MB of photos and videos automatically uploaded, you’ll receive another 500MB space bonus, up to 4.5GB total. [Update: To clarify, you can get up to 5GB of free space with this feature, if you count the initial 500MB space for the first photo import].

The photo import feature is not available on Mac 10.4 and Linux.
