Amazing Features of Windows 8 Operating System

Windows 8 has been under a lot of scrutiny since its release in 2012. Microsoft came under fire for removing the beloved start button and it lead to many of the amazing new features being overshadowed. However, Windows 8 is an extremely durable and beneficial operating system for many people.

Windows 8 features

Here are some of the more amazing features of the Windows 8 operating system.

1. The Improved Boot Up Speed

Restarting your computer is sometimes a nightmare. You want it to load up quickly so you can just get on with your work. While Windows 7 fixed some of the issues found in Windows Vista, Windows 8 has gone to a whole new level. This is mainly due to the way that the resources for applications are allocated to help start everything quicker and get through the annoying part.

Part of this is also due to the way the kernel partially hibernates when shut down so it takes less time for the computer to remember the previous session.

2. The Dynamic Tile Set Up

This was part of the problem for Windows 8 but it is also a great feature. The tiles are excellent for those with tablet computers, smartphones and other touch screen devices.

It allows people to quickly flick through the various apps without having to find them in a long list on the desktop or in the start menu. The tiles can also be rearranged, similarly to on Windows phones, to make the more prominent ones stand out, keep the computer safer for children and make it more personalised.

3. Have Your Windows Look on Any Computer

There is a function known as “Windows to go”. This allows you to store your whole operating system, personalisation included, on a memory stick. You can take this stick wherever you want, plug it into other devices and have your own Windows 8 right there.

You have access to everything you need, whether at work, at home or somewhere overseas! This is also great for those who have a virus and have to wipe everything off their device; everything they need is still on the USB stick!

4. A Much Better Search Function

Have you noticed how the search function on Windows 7 and below is quite basic and sometimes slow. You don’t always find everything you need and it doesn’t make it easier to look through files, folders and programs. Windows 8 changed that with the new and improved search. Apps, files and everything that the term could include are listed in the results and searching within the apps and emails is possible.

So, Windows 8 isn’t as bad as it may seem. It can take some getting used to and if you do prefer the regular Windows 7 layout, there is a desktop version available. However, there are many functions that are worth investing in, especially if you want to take your computer without the actual device everywhere!
