Google Search Testing New Design For Tablets

After Gmail and Calendar, here is Google testing a new design for the tablet version of its search engine. Rather than appear on the left sidebar, the tools have been moved just below the search box. This new UI “is rolling out in the coming days to iPad and Android 3.1+ tablets across 36 languages.

As per official blog

The new layout is more readable and it’s also used for specialized search engines like Google Image Search and Google News. Google Image Search for iPad now uses infinite scrolling and shows a lot more results. Unfortunately, the list of missing feature is impressive: no Google Instant or Google Suggest, no links to the cached pages or to the mobile transcoder, no link to the advanced search page.

Four buttons appear on the new navigation bar. This allows quick access to various features.

The search results page was also redesigned. The results are further apart. The page is more airy, yet there are fewer results that are displayed on the page. Finally, related research appear on the right side of the page. This update is quite interesting. Source – GOOGLE
